FIUS: mathematics education, development and research
The main focus of the CATCH project (2001-2003) was to develop and test a program of professional development to bring about fundamental changes in teachers' instruction by helping them change their classroom assessment practices.
Funded by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI).
FIsme has developed instructional sequences to support student use of dynamic, interactive applets in the context of a management system that allows teacher use of classroom accounts, including options for customization such as design of new activities, individualizing student activities, and different options for feedback. Guest access is free; school accounts can be purchased for a modest fee.
The Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER), together with the Freudenthal Institute continues to support revisions and updates to a comprehensive middle grades mathematics curriculum. This initial project and revision were supported with funding by the National Science Foundation. MiC is published and distributed by Encyclopaedia Britannica.
